چکیده
Pharmaceuticals are emerging pollutants of concern for aquatic ecosystems where they occurring in complex mixtures. In the present study, chronic toxicity an environmentally relevant pharmaceutical mixture on juvenile rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) was investigated. Five pharmaceuticals (paracetamol, carbamazepine, diclofenac, naproxen and irbesartan) were selected based their detection frequency concentration levels Meuse river (Belgium). Fish exposed 42 days to three different concentrations mixture, median one detected river, 10-times 100-times this concentration. Effects nervous, immune, antioxidant, detoxification systems evaluated throughout exposure period response standardized using Integrated Biomarker Response (IBRv2) index. IBRv2 scores increased over time fish highest After days, displayed significantly higher lysozyme activity (p < 0.01). The also caused significant changes brain serotonin turnover 0.05). short, our results indicate that subchronic waterborne a commonly freshwater may affect neuroendocrine immune trout.

Rainbow Trout, Oncorhynchus mykiss
Rainbow trout are classified as Oncorhynchus mykiss, and as such belong to the same genus as Pacific salmon, and to the family Salmonidae, which includes Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar), various trout (Salvelinus sp.), Arctic char (Salvelinus alpinus), Arctic grayling (Thymallus arcticus) and whitefish (Coregonus sp.). Rainbow trout are native to areas around the North Pacific Ocean, from souther...
متن کاملCadmium disrupts behavioural and physiological responses to alarm substance in juvenile rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss).
Alarm substance is a chemical signal released from fish skin epithelial cells after a predator causes skin damage. When other prey fish detect alarm substance by olfaction, they perform stereotypical predator-avoidance behaviours to decrease predation risk. The objective of this study was to explore the effect of sublethal cadmium (Cd) exposure on the behavioural and physiological responses of ...
متن کاملA metabolomics approach to elucidate effects of food deprivation in juvenile rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss).
The aim of this study was to evaluate whether NMR-based metabolomics is a suitable method to generate an integrated view on metabolic processes during food deprivation in salmonid fish. Juvenile rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) weighing 43-115 g were either fed ad libitum or deprived of food for 28 days at 10°C to investigate catabolic effects on energy reserves and metabolite patterns. The ...
متن کاملDietary exposure of juvenile rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) to 1,2-bis(2,4,6-tribromophenoxy)ethane (BTBPE): Bioaccumulat
Introduction Some chemical members of the family of bromine-based flame retardants are now ubiquitous in the environment. Brominated diphenyl ethers (BDEs), for example, have been detected globally in almost every environmental compartment and their detection has forced industry to phase out production of two formulations: penta and octa-mixtures. In response to this, the BFR industry has begun...
متن کاملEffects of chronic dietary exposure to environmentally relevant concentrations of 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin on survival, growth, reproduction and biochemical responses of female rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)
Adult female rainbow trout were exposed to dietary 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) at concentrations of 1.8, 18 and 90 ng TCDD/kg (ww) food for up to 300 day. At the end of the exposure fish were spawned and the reproductive outcomes were assessed. TCDD was accumulated into tissues and eggs in a dose-dependent manner with steady state being achieved after 50–100 day of exposure. Bioc...
